Our Forgiving God
For thou, O LORD, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
Psalm 86:5How quick are you to go on your knees and seek forgiveness from God for your sins? Does it take a while, after the condemnation sets in? Or do you not notice when you sin against God? Whatever the case is, I want to exhort you today to seek repentance regularly.
God is ready to forgive you if you are willing to call upon Him. The Bible says that "if thou confess thy sins He is faithful and just to forgive you and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness." God is a God of mercy and compassion, not wanting any person to die in their sins but for all to come to repentance.
The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. The Bible also warns us that whatsoever a man sows, that too shall he reap. When we sow into the lusts of the flesh we reap corruption. And only God is able to restore what we have lost through sin.
Yes, He is a God of mercy. But He is also our Father. And like any Father, when we are disobedient there is a penalty for that. And that is why it is so important to always go before God and seek forgiveness. And God hears your cries, and He forgives.
In the same manner, how ready are you to forgive others? Are you a person who has Gods mercy and compassion? Are you quick to forgive and slow to anger?
It is easy to go before God and ask for forgiveness but if you are holding onto seeds of unforgiveness, God cannot forgive you of your sins. The Bible says, "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us." Are there roots of unforgiveness that you have not destroyed?
Develop a Christ-like character and be ready to forgive; even if it is those people who persecute you and want to kill you. God is ready to forgive. Develop a heart attitude in your life that forgives others, always, no matter the trespass.
