Wages and Gifts
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23I want to tell you today that Satan does not give anything to anybody — unless you are willing to work for it. The "wages" of sin is death. Wages talks about working for recompense. That is Satan for you — hell entice you with a wonderful reward, but there is always a price that you need to pay for it. And the price is always something you cannot afford — afford to buy with money or he deceives you to think that it is something you cannot afford to lose.
The only thing that Satan is interested in is your salvation. He wants you to lose the opportunity to have a relationship with a Loving God through Christ Jesus. He will try to tempt you with the riches of this world. And if that does not work he will try and bring theft, lies and destruction to keep you from knowing God.
But God has given you a gift. Its a gift. The difference between wages and a gift is that a gift does not require your work effort to earn it. The only decision you need to make will be the best decision of your life — to accept the gift — Jesus — as your personal Lord and Saviour. Every good gift comes from God, and the gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus is one of them.
However, just like anything you own in life, this gift needs to be looked after and cared for. The same applies to the gift of salvation. Its a gift from God, but it is your responsibility to look after it, guard it, protect it, nourish it, feed it, develop it and sustain it. And even then, God has given you another gift to help you grow in Jesus — the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Do you see how good and wonderful your Creator is? First He gave you Jesus so that you can be saved. Then He gave you His Holy Spirit to help you day by day.
The true and the living God, JEHOVAH is His name, is an awesome, omniscient, omnipotent Father who only knows how to give good gifts to them that love Him and call upon Him.
