The Prince of Peace

Be still, and know that I am God.

Psalm 46:10a

What is peace? When you think of the word what does it mean to you? Does it mean the end of all wars? Does peace mean that everybody gets along with everybody? If you had to paint a picture of peace what would that picture look like?

In 2005 a massive tsunami struck Indonesia. Waves six times higher than the average adult engulfed the island at speeds of 800 km/h. Paint this picture of complete devastation and disaster; and then ask yourself, "Would I be at peace when all of this is taking place?"

Jesus said, "In this world ye shall have tribulation, but in me ye might have peace. Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world." In John 14, Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

The peace that Jesus gives eases the heart. The peace that God gives is a security that you are protected by a Strong Tower that will save you. The peace of God gives you the assurance that there is absolutely no reason to be afraid.

Peace has been stolen from many countries, from our neighbourhoods and from our homes. Brother is against brother, father against son, mother against daughter; and there is little peace.

And through all of this Jesus is saying, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." All ye that are taking a beating in life; all ye that are trying to find hope in a hopeless situation; all ye that are tired from a year of stress and hard work; all ye that are confused and afraid ... the LORD calleth thee, "Come, and I will give you rest."

Have you had a rough year of trying to keep your head above the water? I exhort you to be still in Gods presence. Allow His peace to refill you today, and to put your mind and heart at rest.
