This Is the Day

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

With this year now almost over, many people are getting ready to sit back, relax and get ready to listen to Christmas carols and watch those warm Christmas movies on television.

But the rest of the year may have been rather hectic. And many may have forgotten what it felt like to rejoice in the LORD. Philippians 4:4 says, "Rejoice in the LORD always, and again I say rejoice." The Bible is a book of joy; when you read the Word you discover a world of promise, a God of promise and a people who could rejoice in the LORD. Even during trials and tribulations Gods people could rejoice. Paul went to the extent of saying, "We rejoice in tribulation also" because his eyes were focused beyond his problems to a God who he knew would deliver him.

What about you, though? Are you rejoicing today? Are you glad that you are here? Are you thanking God for His goodness and His everlasting love? Do not lose your joy today. Yes, we all have mountains to overcome — but while God is taking you to that mountaintop take the time to make this affirmation, "My LORD, this is the day that You have made; I will rejoice and be glad in it."

Do not let today be determined by your circumstances and your emotions. Rather, let your day be affirmed by the Word of God. When you get a hold of the Word you can rejoice, you can be glad, you can smile and you can let your light shine. Because the Word is power and the Word will set you free from any oppression that you may be feeling.

Rejoice in the LORD always, and again I say rejoice. This year has been tough and yes, you could probably look back at this year and tell yourself, "I have no idea how I made it this far." Today is a good day to rejoice and to thank the LORD for the year that He has brought you though.
