Day of Adversity
Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands. Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees. But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
Job 4:1 to 5How often has this happened to you? You can encourage others; you are a pillar to your family and community. People look at you as a pillar of strength; as somebody that they can run to in the day of adversity. But when trouble and trials come against you, you faint.
If this is you, do not be discouraged! There have been many times in every leaders life that he or she just wanted to give up. If you are developing your life to be a rock that others can stand on you can be assured that the enemy will rise up against you like a flood. When you get your hands dirty in the field of Gods Kingdom adversity will come your way.
Proverbs 24:10 says, "If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small." I thought that being weak made me a loser. I used to think that I had to always be the overcomer, always be the one who could stand no matter what the enemy threw at me. But how do you stand when you lose a loved one? How do you stand when your home is in turmoil and your children are on drugs?
And I realized that in the day of adversity it is okay if your strength is small. Its okay if we feel like fainting. Because the Bible says that when we are weak, when we are on the verge of giving up, when we are ready to throw in the towel, God takes over. God is made stronger when we are made weaker. God can take control of the situation when we put down our hands, when we surrender the situation and our lives completely to Him.
God WILL deliver them that put their trust in Him. He will strengthen you; He will make you rise above the valleys and above the mountains on wings of eagles.
