Love the LORD

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Deuteronomy 6:5

To the church of Ephesus Jesus said, "I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."

It does not matter how much you know about Jesus, or how much you are doing in Gods Kingdom, or how many people you are healing, or how many people are getting saved; the one question you need to be certain of is, "Do I love Jesus?"

How do you know if you love Jesus? The answer is simple and can be found in John 14:15, "If you love Me, keep My commandments. If ye keep My commandments ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Fathers commandments, and abide in His love."

The warning to the church of Ephesus teaches us to return to your first love. When do we lose that joy and that love for our beloved? When the things of this world become more important than Jesus! Either the cares of this world have diverted us and we have become cold towards God, or the lusts of this world have enticed us and we have made those lusts our gods.

Now, it is your responsibility to return to your first love — Jesus Christ. You need to search your life and you need to find out why you lost that love, if you did, and you need to ask God to give you that first love back again. The advice to the church of Ephesus was, "Return to your first love." Gods love never dies. We may lose it, but we can still find it again with Gods help.

As we start preparing to celebrate Jesus birth let us remember that the only reason Jesus came to this earth was to do the will of His Father — to die on a cross for you and I so that we could share in the love of God and in the promises that God has for us. I exhort you today to seek out your beloved, and to love the LORD with all your heart and soul, and with all your might.
