Love Yourself

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Matthew 22:39

Jesus gave two commandments in this verse — firstly, love thy neighbour, and second - love yourself. The equation is simple — if you cannot love yourself you cannot love your neighbour. If you cannot respect yourself you cannot respect your neighbour. And if you condemn yourself it is easier to condemn others.

There are several tools that the enemy uses against you to try and destroy you:

Self-accusing is when you blame yourself for everything that goes wrong in life.

Self-affrighted is when you are afraid of yourself. Self-destruction is when you voluntarily destroy yourself, be it

emotionally, socially or physically. Self-condemnation is when you condemn yourself for things that you do

wrong in life.

My friend, remember that Jesus loves you. So great is His love for you that whilst you were yet a sinner He died for you. God created you and He definitely did not create you to destroy you.

God is always ready to forgive you. The Bible says that if you confess your sins He is faithful and just to forgive you and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. The Bible goes on to say, "For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation."

The next time you feel like hating yourself or destroying yourself or feel that you're not pretty enough or good enough, remember that you are a child of the Most High God, and that the weapons of self-whatever shall not destroy you. You were created in the image of God and God wants you to show that image to the world. Love yourself because you were beautifully and wonderfully created by a God who loves you and cares for you.
