Where Are You?
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Psalm 37:23We are close to the end of another year. Over 300 days ago you may have set plans and goals for this year. Did you do that? Or are you just living life one day at a time checking where the winds of time are carrying you? The Bible says that where there is no vision you perish. And how true that is! When you have no vision you have no expected outcome for your life; you are swayed by anything and everything that life throws at you.
As the year draws to a close I exhort you to set a vision for your life for next year. Make sure that your vision is in line with the Word of God, firstly. Have a vision for every area of your life — your family life, your occupation, your spiritual life; have a vision for your children as well.
Now, if you set a vision for this year, I want you to ask yourself two questions. Firstly, "Where am I now compared to where I wanted to be?" Review your successes and failures over the year and learn from what this year has brought you. Do not be discouraged if you have not accomplished what you wanted to achieve. Learn from this year and ask God for His wisdom in moving forward next year.
Next, ask yourself, "Where am I now compared to where God wanted me to be?" Proverbs 3 says, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." God wants you to walk on the road that He has ordered for you.
Where are you now? Are you on His road? Are you living the life that Psalm 37 promises — to be delightful? There are still a few days left in this year to review, assess, and set your vision for next year. Agree in your heart that next year is going to be different. Next year is going to be a greater year in your life. Believe that next year will be a year filled with vision, promise and purpose in your life.
