The Way, The Truth and the Life
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6Jesus is called by many names in the Bible. He is the Good Shepherd, Immanuel, Wonderful, Counsellor, the Prince of Peace. In John 14:6 Jesus says that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. But what does this really mean to you and me?
The Way
Prior to Jesus dying on the cross it was only the High Priest who could enter into the Holy of Holies, and that only once a year, to offer a blood sacrifice to God for the forgiveness of sins for himself and for the people. But Jesus died, and the power of God tore the veil of the temple that led to the Holy of Holies. And Jesus rose again, and became the Way to an everlasting relationship with the Father. There is only God, and there is only one Mediator (Negotiator) between God and man, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Truth
John 1:14 says, "The Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth."
Jesus died on the Cross so that the Truth (which is Jesus) could set you free. False prophets and teachers will arise, some will come confessing Christ, but they are far from the Truth. Jesus is the true Shepherd. Nobody and nothing can fill your life like the joy and peace that Christ offers. And that is the truth.
The Life
Jesus came to give you a life of abundance. John 11 says, "I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me ... shall live." Jesus planned a life of abundance and prosperity for you. His death on the cross secured the way for you to enter into a life that promises this abundance. Only Jesus can give you this life.
