More Fasting, More Anointing
And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could we not cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Mark 9:28 to 29Unfortunately, one of the most under-rated, unused power-creating weapons that God created has slowly been removed from churches and from the lives of the believer. Yes, ask many believers today whens the last they fasted and the stories are almost all the same. When was the last you fasted?
Fasting is not just a sacrifice from food. It is beating the body and bringing the body into subjection to the will of God. Don't get me wrong; there is immense power in prayer but, as Jesus states in Mark, there are some things in our spiritual lives that require both fasting and prayer.
You may have been battling with a situation for years. You may have been praying for months on end, looking for an answer. You may even be giving up on God, thinking that He has forsaken you. But He hasn't. He holds true to His Word and HE will never forsake you. Instead of giving up, I encourage you to earnestly fast and pray before God.
Fasting had several purposes — from receiving atonement of sins to getting direction from God for battle, men of God and cities that served the LORD fasted for answers. Answers not just to spiritual problems, but answers to physical problems too.
If you are saying, "Brother, I haven't fasted in years and don't know where to start," my advice is to start slowly. Even if it is just half a day for a day or two a week, abstaining from food; let that be your start. As long as it is sincere, you are giving God something to work with and to build on. Before you know it, you will be fasting for days at a time.
Do not let fasting become a forgotten weapon of warfare. Fast, and when you fast, pray. And watch how God increases the anointing in your life.
