The Mind of Christ
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
1 Peter 4:1 to 2As you study this Word, you understand that God does not have many minds — there is but one mind of Christ. And if all of us, as a part of the Kingdom of God and as a part of the Body of Christ, do not have the same mind, we are heading for shipwreck.
At McDonalds a very long while ago I saw a young white lad begging for food. As he walked past me I thought, "A young WHITE lad begging. Now that I don't see every day." Now that was not the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ says, "Feed the poor." The mind of Christ does not say, "Judge first and then decide if you want to feed them or not."
The mind of Christ also does not say, "Feed the black, underprivileged children that have been victims of racism." The mind of Christ says, "Feed the poor and the hungry." My point is that if we are not living life with the mind of Christ on, we are heading for shipwreck in our own lives.
If you are not wearing the mind of Christ, you're wearing a carnal mind, and the carnal is always at enmity with the Spirit, that you cannot do the things you want to do for Christ. Your carnal mind will tell you to sleep longer when the Holy Spirit wants you in early morning prayer. And in the evening, the carnal mind keeps you glued to soccer and soapies, when the Holy Spirit is prompting you to pray. Always, my friend, always have the mind of Christ on you at all times.
