These Hands

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I thee; In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up; and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

Acts 3:6 to 7

Reading through the book of Acts, we read of the many signs and wonders that were performed by men of God, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. I thought to myself, "Why did the name of Jesus become so well- known after He ascended to Heaven?"

Because of the signs and wonders. Because of the testimonies of the saints and those who received miracles. Two men could transform an entire city. Witches and wizards burned their livelihood to receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Why are we not as effective today? Why has the church so down-played the signs and wonders bit?

Forget the politics and the nitty-gritties that the world throws at you — only special people can heal, and only this person can do this and that person can do that. Forget what they say, "You cast out demons in the name of Beelzebub." They said the same about Jesus.

The Holy Spirit gives out gifts as He desires and in the proportion that you desire it. Do you want to perform signs and wonders in your life? Do you want to revive cities and neighbourhoods? What is your desire to transform the world? Do you want to say, "Rise up and walk," and see friends healed?

Mark 16 says that with your hands you shall heal the sick. Have you looked at your hands? You have life-giving power through the Holy Spirit ... in YOUR HANDS. They're not ugly; they're not there to slave away for the boss; they're not abnormal. Your hands have the power to make the blind see, the deaf to hear, the lame to walk, to make the sick whole again and set the prisoner free ... with YOUR HANDS. Do you see Gods power in your hands? Signs must follow you. Wonders are a step behind you. Waiting to be put into action.
