The Pattern

And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

Genesis 6:15

God is a God of law and order. Everything God created was created according to His pattern — when He took six days to create the world He created every little thing according to the pattern He found to be "good." He did not place the sheep in the ocean and the fish on dry land. He knew exactly where He wanted His creation to be.

Even when man fell, God remained the same ... a God of law and a God of order. As we read the Bible we discover that when God gave instructions, they were specific. The ark, for example, had to be a certain size, a certain depth, a certain width, it had to have an exact number of windows ... the ark was built according to Gods specifications.

Likewise, God created you according to a plan and a specific purpose. Even in the book of Acts we read that God gave specific instructions to the apostles. Every step that the apostles took was under the power of the Holy Spirit — direction from God was vital.

Do you know Gods pattern for your life? I see so many believers doing what others are doing — trying to be somebody that they are not. But you need to ask yourself, "What is the pattern God has for my life?" The Body of Christ is like a jigsaw puzzle; every piece fits perfectly into a specific place. God has placed you strategically in a position where you will be most effective.

He has given you a certain spiritual DNA structure that is unique. And if you do not know what that DNA is, you will live your life fulfilling somebody elses purpose. Look at your gifts and abilities; go before God and seek that pattern that He has ordained for your life. Knowing your pattern is vital to your spiritual walk and leads to a more fulfilling Christian lifestyle.
