A Heart of Forgiveness

But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Genesis 19:26

Do you know what true forgiveness is? Its not about releasing somebody from a burden, but it is about you moving on with your life. You don't hold onto the past.

You cannot move forward in your spiritual life if you keep looking behind you. Isaiah 43 says, "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."

Let go of the past. If you are holding onto past pains, past problems, past hurts ... its time to let go. Forget the former things so that God can start a new thing in your life. Do you have unforgiveness in your heart? Let it go.

Unforgiveness is a sin that stops Gods grace in your life. The Lords Prayer includes the following line, "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us." In other words, God cannot forgive you of your sins if you cannot forgive those who have trespassed against you.

Unforgiveness and love are always at enmity with each other. You cannot love somebody that you cannot forgive. And God commands us to love everybody, even our enemies.

Did you know that an unforgiving heart becomes vulnerable to cancer, arthritis and heart sicknesses? If you harbour and entertain unforgiveness in your heart, bitterness reigns and God cannot work in your life. You cannot receive healing. You cannot worship the living God. People can pray for you night and day, but until you let go of the unforgiveness, their prayers are in vain.

Examine your life and allow God to fill your life with His love and forgiveness.
