A Coat of Many Colours

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

Genesis 37:3

A coat of many colours. To Israel, the coat of many colours distinguished Joseph from his other sons. It was a trademark; a copyrighted robe that could not and would not be sold or exchanged. It was a token of a fathers love to a beloved child. It was irreplaceable and meant the world to Israel. When Joseph was "apparently" killed, all the father saw was the coat to confirm the loss of his dear child.

Are you wearing your coat this morning? Or has Satan stolen that priceless robe from you and now stands before God mocking Him, "Ha. I have snatched Your childs robe and the world now looks upon Your childs nakedness. Your child whom You love so much is defeated. Your child is where I wanted him to be — in the pits with the pigs."

The coat that you have today is what Satan is after. On that coat is the blood of Jesus, your protection from the enemy, your trademark. On that coat lay your medals and your badges, remembrances of battles won. Your coat may be a little tattered or torn right now from the many spiritual wars you have fought, but the question stands, "Are you still wearing that coat?"

If not, be not discouraged. Even Joseph was cast into a pit and had the coat stolen from him. He could have given up. He lost his life that day; his father took him for dead. But Joseph was a pit-bull; he was a fighter — he did not give in to the darkness around him. He refused to allow circumstances to defeat him.

Your coat cannot be destroyed. It may be stolen from you, but you can always take it back, by force. You do not have to accept what Satan throws at you. Going through a tough time? Now is a good time to add another medal to that coat. Are you wearing your coat? Are you distinguished in the world and in the enemys camp? Remember, your coat is Gods reminder of a blessed and prosperous life and favour in Him.
