Joseph, the Dreamer
And Joseph dreamed a dream.
Genesis 37:5aDream BIG. Joseph had a dream. The Hebrew word for such an event is pronounced khaw-lam, and means to "bind firmly." Joseph became bound up in a dream that God had given him. Why? Because this dream came directly from God and revealed a spiritual experience that was going to transpire in Josephs life.
When you start dreaming big dreams, circumstances around you are belittled. When God starts speaking to you and directing your paths, you can be more than certain that Satan will try and steal your dream. Here are five things you can learn today:
1. Receive Gods promise for your life with child-like faith. Joseph could have discarded his dream and continued being a shepherd boy. But he knew he was destined for greatness.
2. Joseph could have given up when the going got tough. But he didn't. He looked to the prize and ran a faithful race. Make the best of bad situations — God makes all things beautiful in His time. Know that God can deliver you from any situation — He is the God of the impossible.
3. Stand with integrity in trials and temptations. Joseph was a man of integrity, even when Potiphers wife wanted him to commit adultery with her. Satan wants to steal your dream. Don't give him that pleasure. Be a person of integrity.
4. Learn to walk in humility before God and man. Joseph was destined to be a ruler, but he did not allow pride to destroy that dream.
5. See everything in life from Gods perspective. Remember that the Holy Spirit will show you things to come. When you start dreaming big, you start seeing a clear picture of where God wants you to be. And when you get the picture, you surrender wholly unto God to fulfil His will for your life. God will clear the fog from your long- term view.
