Faith Cometh by Hearing

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:17

It is almost impossible for the man sitting next to you, or the lady walking past you to be saved merely by watching you. Satan is making it more and more difficult for the children of Light to shine in this world.

Paul made a very valid comment when he talks about hearing the word of God. In the world we live today, we have televisions, strip clubs, pornographic magazines, sports, computer and TV games, and every lustful thing that the world delights in. The last thing the world wants is to sit in a room and read the Word.

That means that there really is only one way that the world is going to receive the Word — by hearing. I often sit and wonder, "Lord, what does the world have to offer that the Word cannot?" And truly, there is nothing.

The best novel in the world cannot be compared to the Word of God. The best novel does not have love, wars, friendships, humour, action, romance and adventure all wrapped into one. But the Bible does. And the Bible offers even more ... hope, trust, grace, everlasting mercy, peace, joy eternal. And that, my dear friend, is what the world needs now.

And there is only one name that can offer everything that the Word promises ... JESUS. Without the name of Jesus, we live in vain. No man can come unto the Father but by His Son, Jesus.

Jesus offers true peace. The world does not. Look around you. The world is being filled with filth. But God brings salvation, hope and deliverance through His Word. It is all well and good that your salvation may be secured in Jesus. But where is the compassion for the man next door? Wake up and let the world know who Jesus is. He is the King of kings. He is the good Shepherd that walked to the cross for you and for me. He was nailed to a cross for the sins of the world. Its about time we took the Word to the world.
