Rivers in the Desert
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19I want you to pray this prayer point with me today, "Oh Lord, make rivers in the desert in my life today, in the name of Jesus." As a Christian, there are going to be times in your life when you feel like you are in a wilderness or in a desert. And in these times you have to learn to be very patient and to just wait on the LORD to finish what He wants to accomplish in your life.
But being in a desert does not mean that you have to be without hope or without faith. It is in the desert experiences of life that you need to cling to a God who is known as the Way, the Truth, the Resurrection, and the Life. You need to hold onto Jesus because it is only Jesus who is going to make a way for you in the wilderness and it is only Jesus who is going to give you fountains of living water that you will not thirst any more.
Trusting in man may give you a cup of water for a day, but it is not sufficient to get you through the desert. And the more cups of water you accept from man the longer you are going to stay in your desert. God does not take you through a desert experience to put your trust in man. He wants you to trust in Him.
Now most of us know this already. You may be thinking, "But Lord, I do trust in You." Do you trust God enough to let go? A lot of Christians do not want to let go of their situation. In a financial crisis you are going to the bank for help. Marriage counsellors aid you in your relationship, and doctors are giving you prescription medication. But you are trusting in God?
Take bold steps of faith and cast your cares upon Him. Gods righteous right hand will sustain and uphold you. Psalm 1 says that when you are in His will, you shall be like a river planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruit in season. Your leaves do not wither and whatsoever you put your hands to do prospers.
