Ye Mighty Man of Valour

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

Judges 6:12

A stick of dynamite has great potential to cause a vast amount of damage, but lacks the authority to do it on its own. Somebody has to pull a switch to make that power take effect.

In Judges 6, we read of a man named Gideon. In a nutshell, Israel was in a state of chaos and destruction. The Midianites had invaded the camp and Gideon was hiding from the enemy, sitting in a winepress, crushing wheat.

You see, that is where defeated Christians love to go ... the WHINEpress — they hide away from the world, return to their old ways, try to find some solace by keeping themselves busy and out of the victory God planned for them.

But, even in Gideons turmoil and negative perception of the world, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him and exclaims, "The LORD is with you, O mighty man of valour." Can you picture the look on Gideons face, "Are you talking to me? You must have the wrong person."

Here is something I pray that you never forget — Your perception of the world, when you look at the world through your mortal, physical eyes, will always see defeat. You pick up the newspaper and you see defeat and destruction. We look at children and think, "Are they safe in this world?"

But ... when you look at the world through Gods eyes you will see hope and victory, and a people that God sees as mighty men and women of valour. Men who have the potential to become warriors that WILL overcome. When Gideon saw defeat, the angel of the LORD saw a man of victory. When your eyes see a losing streak, God says, "I will deliver you. I will see you through. You will come out victorious." Open your spiritual eyes and realize that God created you to be a person of authority, filled with His power.
