The Walk of Faith
And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so? Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
John 18:22 to 23Living a Christian life is not a joke and it is definitely not an easy life. Its not a difficult life either. I call the Christian walk a challenge — a challenge that is pushed forward by the accelerator of love; the love for a loving God and a love for other souls. It is a challenge steered by a mighty God and powered by the Holy Spirit. It is a challenge that comes with a choice — a choice to walk in Gods plan for your life or a choice to reject it.
Jesus had the same choice. But Jesus had a purpose that He knew HAD to be done. The salvation of the world rested in His hands. Without Him the entire world would be lost. And Jesus knew well this responsibility, and it was this responsibility, and the love for God, wherefore He exclaimed, "Not my will, but your will be done, Father." Jesus knew the hardship and He knew the difficult times that lay ahead — but He persevered, knowing the final outcome and the victory that would be secured.
He knew that He was going to be marred beyond recognition — the prophets had prophesied of this. He knew that He was going to be rejected by men; He knew that He would be beaten and bruised and mocked and spat upon and kicked and nailed to a sinners cross ... and He knew that without all of this happening, you and I would be lost for eternity.
Today, take courage that no matter what hardships and persecution come your way, the Lord is your strength. He is your shield. He is your help. He is your God.
Persecution will come, but Jehovah is bigger than that. Family problems may come, but God is bigger than that too. Getting beaten and injured is a possibility, but eternal life with your Saviour is a certainty. And there is nothing, absolutely nothing, which will separate you from the love of Christ and the hope of eternal life with your Redeemer and Friend.
