Jesus on the Cross
Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.
Exodus 20:23Aaron helped the Israelite children build their golden calf. And he exclaimed, "These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt." The next day three thousand men fell by the sword.
I am not here to talk to you about idols and other false gods that people serve. Gods very own people made for themselves an idol. They wanted to see a god that they could believe in; and they carved for themselves a calf.
Exodus 20:4 says that you must not make any molten image of things in the heavens, things on the earth or things in the water under the earth. And yet we continue to defy Him, and try to justify keeping such idols. What idols are we housing that is causing chaos in our homes?
I've seen gold chains and pendants of Jesus on a cross. Now, don't get me wrong, I believe in the victory on the cross. But Jesus is not on the cross anymore. No. My Word says that they placed Him in a tomb. But the tomb could not contain Him either. Death could not contain the Living God. So tell me, why are you still looking at Jesus on a cross?
Get Jesus off the cross. And give Him His rightful place. The power is not in a crucifix around your neck. Why do we not have images of Jesus sitting next to the Father in Heaven; or Jesus feeding the five thousand; or healing the sick? But emphasis is placed on Him dying on a cross.
Do not be fooled. Isaiah 42 says, "I am JEHOVAH; that is my name: and My glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images." Get rid of those crosses. God can easily restore any amount of money you spent on those things. But be obedient, and do not buy or make graven images of Him. That is idolatry.
